Hoya Rebecca

Hoya Rebecca is another species of Hoya family and it is said to be native from the Philippines while other site claimed that this Hoya originates in Thailand.

Hoya Rebecca produces beautiful scented flower that grows in cluster on the long vines. I love the leaves of this Hoya because the new leaves formed into a delicate white and pinkish leaves where we absolutely enjoys the plant even though we don't see any flowers on it. Then, we even love the Hoya Rebecca when it's bloom.

Propagation " the breeding of specimens of a plant by root cuttings" obtained from the Dictionary - Oxford Languages

Like other plants, Hoya Rebecca is very easy to propagate. The plant picture at the top is my latest propagation. I am using the water method as it is the simplest way of propagating Hoya. There are several ways of propagation such as:
  1. stem cuttings + water propagation
  2. air layering - according to some people and experts that this method is 99.9% successful but I really did not try it.
  3. stem cuttings + direct soil propagation
  4. leaf cuttings - I personally not recommend this method. Although, I tried this method and it showed roots successfully but its very impossible to make a new plant.
Propagating a new plant is already considered a hobby to me not just to make a new plant but I am hoping to grow a healthy new plant so I can sell them to other people that loves Hoya.

How To Take Care Hoya Rebecca?

Hoya Rebecca doesn't like direct full sun, she does well in partial sun or in shade. However, you can put her under the artificial grow lights like mine they are placed under the grow lights and they are growing beautifully and produced flowers several times.

For the soil, I found this a bit tricky or maybe it is just me. From an expert advice, the soil must be moist at all times but not soggy. However, like any other plants I always let them dry before watering. It seems that this way works for me than leave the soil wet all the time. I wasted many plants by doing so as most of them gone through root rot.

Is Hoya Rebecca needs sunlight?

Hoya Rebecca of course needs light, it is always ideal for the plants to have enough sunlight to grow. This Hoya loves partial indirect sunlight, however, this plant also can survive under artificial lights such that as grow lights if grown inside the house.

Hoya Rebecca in bloom, this was the 2nd time.
