Unboxing Hoya from Thailand

Unboxing Hoya from Thailand, this video was taken last year when I received my first orders of Hoya from Thailand. It is a bit late upload. The reason why it's late because I don't have enough time to do and my computer is really slow. Luckily, my son allowed me to use his computer to edit and combine all the clips.

So much for that, the Hoya I received were a lot of yellow leaves and most of them really did not survive. There are five Hoya out of twenty five different hoya who have survived and thriving. Ouch!!! yes, really hurts!!! but what can I do? I'm still happy for the remaining ones, they are champion.

The whole experienced of ordering Hoya outside the country is a mixed feelings of excitement and nervousness.

OMG!!! hahaha I am still laughing and felt shy at this speech like an improntu speech during my graduation at TAV college. I'm still laughing at myself, I have very bad grammar and my pronunciation was so aweful, however, I am proud of myself that I was standing in the middle of the crowd. I can't be proud enough despite of so many obstacles I had I still managed to reach the finish line. Lucky I posted this video online otherwise it will be gone for good.

This was my best memory way back year 2015. I supposed not to come for this graduation when the school supervisor had called and asked me to attend. She did not tell me the reason why I need to be in the ceremony but she pleaded me to come. When I got there, she told me that I have to deliver a speech, I'm like What? Why? so many questions... my nerves were all over places but at the end I said okay, I made a little note for myself in the middle of the ceremony until the emcee called my name.

How sweet is the smiles would that be
A mask she wears everyday
Taking obstacles in every way
Hiding the secrets of pain and misery.

As these months just passed by
Sweet smile faded and tears rolled by
Feeling humiliated and I sighed
Heavyheartedness appeared so high.

Negative thoughts are rushing in
Breaking my hearts and my whole being
Depression wants to reign
Feeling of desolation begins.

Taking time to realize
What a waste of time to compromise
My whole me to jeopardize
What a stupid things to apprise.

Yes,
so close... very close!!!
Thanks God, He knows
Reminded me of how life goes
Smile should not fade away and will continues.

Variegated African Violet

Variegated African Violet is also called as Saintpaulia. This type of plant is one of my collections. I adored Variegated African Violet very long time however, this type of African Violet is hard to find in Canada. 

There are so many regular African Violet in most of the stores around where I live but I had purchased only one plant despite that I love their flowers. I still have this plant since 2013 until now and it blooms every year.

I remember, been searching Variegated African Violet in the internet but most of them were found in the US. In the year 2020 around May, I found a Facebook page of selling various types of African Violet. I jumped into joy because at last I can purchased the plant on my wish lists. I purchased 4 leaves cuttings and 4 babies unfortunately, the leaves rot. Then I bought another five different variegated African Violet where four of them survived but the leaves were rotten after 4 to 5 days. Then, here's the third purchased just around Montreal area, I bought three plants.

As you can see in my video those are my surviving Variegated African Violets. I tried leaf propagation some successful but the others failed however, I still tried.

Why I became obsessed of Variegated African Violet? well, simply because I'm plant crazy when it comes to variegated plants I guessed. No, the mean reason is that, they makes me happy, I forgot most of my worries when looking at them, the plants relieve my stress. I admit, to have a plants at home are additional chores but having these makes me worry free of what to do next, I just do what I love to do.

According to the website named Karen Hugg, that this variegated African Violet had been around since late 1950. Wow, that very long and I only noticed this type of African Violet in the year 2016 while browsing online for unusual variegated plants. The fuzzy and white-speckled white some are pink are such so pretty to my eyes. Yet this variegated one is a bit tricky to take care of than the regular one.

For caring my variegated African Violet still I'm not so sure if I did the right way however, I have to check them everyday as I observed they do not like their soil to be dried out. I made a wick to self water them however some seem doesn't work.

Most of my variegated African Violet are in my living room under the artificial lights. So far, I see that they are happy as they gave me flowers most of the time.

I watered them almost everyday for those in a tiny pot trying to avoid the leaves however, that is really hard to do. Every time, I water my plants not just the African Violet there's always water splashed all over.

Angry Birds Cupcake with Buttercream Icing

It's been a while now I have not bake and decorated cake and or cupcakes. I really missed those days. Looking at my sweet creations in my Facebook photo album makes me realized how I creative I was back then compared these days. Maybe, I became so lazy that I won't do these baking stuff anymore. But you know that's not the case, All of my baking tools were ruined when were flooded from the dirty water (overflowed water from the toilet bowl full of ...) So, I do not have a choice I have to threw away all of my baking tools.

So much for that, I still remember how I did these cupcakes. I was using the recipe from Wilton Blog which is "Homemade Vanilla Butter Cream Frosting"

Below is the detailed instructions I followed from her site. 

Homemade Vanilla Butter Cream Frosting

EQUIPMENT

  • Silicone Spatula
  • Electric Mixer (for best results) or Hand Mixer

INGREDIENTS
 

  • ½ Cup Solid Vegetable Shortening (can be substituted for an additional 1/2 cup unsalted butter)
  • ½ Cup Unsalted Butter (1 stick softened)
  • 4 Cups Sifted Powdered Sugar (confectioners' sugar)
  • 2 Tablespoons Milk, Heavy Cream or Water
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract (Pure or Imitation)
  • Pinch of Salt (Optional)

INSTRUCTIONS
 

  • Using an electric mixer fitted with beaters or a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the butter and shortening on a medium speed until light and fluffy. Beat in the vanilla extract and scrape down the bowl occasionally.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time. Start by mixing each cup on a low speed then transition to beating well on medium speed. Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl after each cup of sugar is added. When all the sugar has been mixed in, the frosting will appear dry and stiff.
  • Gradually add small amounts of cream or milk or water at a time until the desired consistency is reached. Continue to beat at a medium speed until light and fluffy. Scrape down the bowl once more and beat again to make sure all the ingredients are incorporated.
  • (Optional) Add a pinch of salt if too sweet and mix until completely dissolved.

A Heartfelt Surprise and a Gentle Reminder

What a pleasant surprise it was—a small gift from a child, though of course, it was the parents behind the thoughtful gesture. Just the idea that someone would take time to show appreciation to their child’s educator is so heartwarming. It reminds me that there are still parents who truly value and respect the role we play in their child’s life. After all, we spend long hours with their little ones, guiding, teaching, and caring for them as if they were our own.

Sadly, not all parents share the same appreciation. Believe it or not, there are some who still think of us as nothing more than babysitters. I’ve heard the hurtful term “glorified babysitter” more times than I can count—and every time, it stings. It dismisses everything we do and all the knowledge and dedication we bring to the classroom.


I hold a bachelor’s degree from my home country, and I also earned a diploma in Early Childhood Education here in Quebec. In 2015, the Ministère de la Famille recognized my qualifications and granted me a Level 2 certification the moment I entered the daycare field. Today, I am proudly working toward reaching Level 7. I’ve poured years of real-life experience and professional knowledge into this work—yet the salary often doesn’t match our efforts or our level. Still, I persist.

Unfortunately, some parents raise their eyebrows as if we lack any formal education. It’s true that not every educator has a degree—but many of them have a deep, natural understanding of how to connect with and care for young children. They aren’t simply “watching” the kids. They assist in implementing activity themes, supporting the work of qualified educators, and enriching the children's daily experience.



So when I receive even the smallest token of appreciation, it means the world to me. It’s not about the gift—it’s about being seen. It touches my heart and inspires me to keep giving my best. Every day, I work with love and purpose to help these little ones grow. We do far more than people realize. We support their emotional, physical, cognitive, and social development, one moment at a time.

These little angels depend on us—and we’re here, not just caring for them, but guiding them, inspiring them, and helping shape their future. That is our calling, and it’s a beautiful one.
